Over time, skin loses its volume. Juvéderm helps you temporarily bring it back. Juvéderm smooths out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, like parentheses. This advanced dermal filler promotes the production of hyaluronic acid, which increases collagen production and improves the skin’s elasticity. Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a natural substance in the body that delivers volume to the skin. Modified HA is the main ingredient behind Juvéderm. Juvéderm is a gel injection, so it creates a more natural appearance than other injectables. Getting treated with Juvéderm helps add volume to different areas of the face without surgery while also temporarily restoring the volume loss beneath the surface.
A Juvéderm treatment session typically takes about 30 minutes to complete. Although Juvéderm solutions already have lidocaine to minimize discomfort, some patients may elect to also receive a topical anesthetic, which is available upon request. The smooth gel will be injected into the desired facial points with a small, thin needle. Compared to other injectables, Juvéderm injections are considered one of the most comfortable since it has such a smooth consistency that requires less pressure.
After receiving Juvéderm, patients are free to return to their normal routine. There may be slight redness around the injection sites but that can be covered up with makeup. In general, try to avoid strenuous activity, excessive sun exposure, anti-inflammatory medications, and alcohol, including alcohol in face wipes or cleansers, for the first 24 hours after treatment. The results of a Juvéderm treatment will begin to show immediately and improve in the following days. Depending on which Juvéderm product is used, the results will last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. In order to maintain results, another treatment will be necessary within this time. However, subsequent treatments will require less of the product since the injectable also works to stimulate the body’s natural production of hyaluronic acid.
